Honey Garlic Shrimp for Chinese New Year

Yields: 4 servings Prep time: 15 minutes Cook time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, salt, and pepper. Add the shrimp and toss to coat.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger.
  4. Add the honey garlic sauce to the skillet with the shrimp and cook for 1 minute, or until the sauce is heated through.
  5. Serve the shrimp immediately, garnished with chopped green onions.
