Square Vase with Poppies Flowers

Poppies and Daffodil Flowers

Materials:

Square vase

Tall stem poppy flowers (multiple colours can be used)

Daffodil flowers

Fine fern leaves

Floral shears

Floral knife (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare your flowers:
    • Use floral shears to cut the stems of your poppy flowers at an angle. Aim for a variety of heights, with some flowers reaching taller than others to create a layered effect.
    • Cut the stems of your daffodils at an angle as well. You can choose a uniform height or vary them slightly.
    • If the stems of your ferns are too thick for the vase, use a floral knife to carefully trim them down for a better fit.
  2. Arrange the poppies:
    • Start by placing your tallest poppy stem in the centre of the vase. If using multiple colours, distribute them evenly throughout the arrangement.
  3. Add the daffodils:
    • Fill in the middle layer of the arrangement with daffodils. You can group them together or scatter them amongst the poppies for a more casual look.
  4. Incorporate the ferns:
    • Tuck sprigs of ferns throughout the arrangement, particularly around the base of the flowers and along the outer edges. Ferns will add a touch of greenery and texture, softening the overall look.
  5. Refine and adjust:
    • Once all the flowers and ferns are in place, take a step back and assess the arrangement. Adjust the positions of flowers or ferns as needed to achieve a balanced look. You can add more flowers or ferns if the vase feels empty.

Tips:

  • Consider the scale of the flowers to your vase. While tall poppies will add height, ensure they don't overwhelm the vase.
  • To extend the life of your flowers, cut a half-inch off the stems diagonally before placing them in water. Add fresh water to the vase every other day.
  • Experiment with different colours of poppies and daffodils to create a unique arrangement that complements your décor.
