Materials:
Dried grass basket (purchased or handmade)
Flowers:
Selection of dried flowers:
Everlasting yellow flowers (craspedia, strawflowers, etc.)
Purple statice
Pink statice
Ivory hydrangea florets
Green fern leaves (maidenhair fern, leather fern, etc.)
Floral shears (optional)
Ribbon or twine (optional)
Instructions:
1 Prepare the dried flowers: If using whole stems, cut them to appropriate lengths using floral shears. You can also separate individual flower heads for a more customised arrangement.
2 Start with a base: Place the larger or sturdier dried flowers, like the everlasting yellow flowers, towards the back of the basket. This will create a foundation for the arrangement.
3 Build the arrangement: Add the statice, hydrangea florets, and fern leaves throughout the basket. Play with colour, texture, and height to create a visually interesting composition. Tuck some elements under others for depth.
4 Finishing touches: Once you're happy with the arrangement, adjust any flower positions as needed. You can secure loose stems with floral wire for extra stability (optional).
5 Tie it up (optional): Wrap a ribbon or twine around the basket handle for a decorative touch.
Tips:
• Use a variety of textures and shapes for visual interest.
• Consider the colour palette you want to create. You can stick to a cohesive colour scheme or use contrasting colours for a more vibrant look.
• Experiment with different placement techniques to find what works best for your basket and dried flowers.
• Have fun and be creative!
